Dr. B. R. Chatterjee , an alumnus of the Johns Hopkins University, USA, is an eminent leprologist, who has established a laboratory of international standards for biomedical research in a rural area in West Bengal almost single handedly. He has extensively worked in the field of leprosy microbiology, epidemiology, chemotherapy and immunotherapy for over 30 years, which has made significant impact on current thinking about the treatment and epidemiology of leprosy. He was awarded the Padma Shree in 1984 for his contributions to the field of leprosy. He served as the President of the Indian Association of Leprologists from 1995-1997.

Dr. C. Sathyamala , MBBS, M.Sc. (Epidemiology) is an epidemiologist who graduated from the London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. U.K. She has worked in various community health projects in different part of the country for over 20 years and has done intensive research in the field of women's health, contraceptives and health effects of the Bhopal gas tragedy. She has authored "Taking Sides", a book that critically evaluates the problems with our health care system and is internationally adjudged as one of the top ten books in community health. She has also written the Indian adaptation of "Where there is no doctor" by David Werner. An epidemiological review of the injectable contraceptive Depo Provera, based on 5 years of research was published last year.

Dr. Binayak Sen , MBBS, MD (Pediatrics), graduated from Christian Medical College, Vellore and is now based in Raipur district, Chhattisgarh. He has been working in the field of community health for over 25 years. He has extensively worked to established health as an inalienable human right.

Dr. Pramod Upadhyaya , M.Sc., Ph.D. is a research chemist and a tenure faculty member at the National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi where he is working on antigen delivery systems. He is also actively involved with the Center for Science Education and Communication, University of Delhi. Among other things, he has developed a low-cost personal air sampler for monitoring air pollution and simple microbiological tests for checking potability of drinking water. As a member of JSS he is actively involved in developing low cost health care technology.
